Istanbul sights and attractions

Istanbul is a vibrant, cosmopolitan blend of ancient history and modern life. This vast city that spans both Europe and Asia, is an amalgamation of both cultures. Formerly known as Constantinople, it has one of the most recognized skylines in the world, a mesmerizing combination of minarets and important monuments that encompass some of the world's greatest historical sites, while its markets and bazaars are an assault on the senses. Though the city is best known for its historical landmarks and traditional heritage, a new and thoroughly modern Istanbul has also emerged, with a contemporary arts scene to rival any other major city, gleaming boutiques, a fine dining culture, and glamorous nightlife.
