"CheckIn: as a regular air traveller I am well aware of the regulation regarding transporting liquids on air travel.
We travelled from London Gatwick to Palma Mallorca with a stop off at Madrid. When checking in at Gatwick with Air Europa we were advised that we were being checked in for both legs of our journey and would not need to check in or go through customs again as we would disembark on arrival at Madrid, - not leave airside space - and go straight to the transfer area to embark onto the next plane for the reminder of our journey, again with Air Europa..
With this knowledge we purchased toiletries airside at Gatwick. On arrival at Madrid we did have to go through customs again - hence all of the goods we purchased at Gatwick were confiscated.
I would like guidance on the procedure for claiming back the cost of these toiletries from Air Europa - an amount of £20.
Check in agents need to be sure of the information they're giving passengers."
