Iberia General Information
Founded in 1927, Iberia is the first air transport group in Spain. In 1946, Iberia became the first airline to fly between Europe and South America and the pioneer in establishing an air bridge between Barcelona and Madrid.
The company is also a founding member of the Oneworld alliance that spans the globe, offering customers better connections to approximately 700 destinations. Following the merger between Iberia and British Airways, the new airline group to which they belong, International Airlines Group (IAG), was listed on the London Stock Exchange and in the Spanish market (IBEX-35). The IAG headquarters are in Madrid and the financial and operational headquarters in London. In 2011, Iberia founded the airline Iberia Express, based in Madrid Barajas Airport, which offers short and medium-haul flights. Iberia was also the first company to create a frequent flyer program (Iberia Plus), which has over 2.5 million members.
