Ideally situated right in the heart of Oslo, the City Hotel AS boasts a long tradition of hospitality and it is indeed a pleasant place to stay for those seeking a relaxing atmosphere combined with reasonable prices. Its excellent location ensures easy access to the central railway station, bus and tram routes. The famous pedestrian street Karl Johan's Gate is just a short stroll away with its many delightful shops and restaurants to explore. This former 17th century building, torn down in 1860 to make room for the current building, was then finished in 1898 and from its opening until 1966, the hotel functioned as a hostel for Norwegians waiting to emigrate to America with the Norske Amerika Shipping Line, whom the building belonged to in that period. In the following years, The Salvation Army managed the hotel for 25 years, until the establishment went into private hands in 1991. Following considerable renovation, blending the old with the new, a pleasant hotel has been created to meet the needs of today's guests. The City Hotel AS features a newly decorated conference room that is well suited for seminars or conferences. This room can host up to 20 people and has a complete standard audio-visual system.
