Presents for mom and dad, check. Presents for the siblings, check. Presents for aunts and uncles, check…

Does this check list sound familiar during the holidays? It’s a season for giving, but with all the hustle and bustle that comes along with these days, sometimes it slips past our mind to give to some of the people who need it most. If you’re one of the millions of people who will be catching a flight this holiday season, there are three airlines that give you the opportunity to donate on-board to help out where it’s needed most.

Find out a little bit more about easyJet, British Airways, and Lufthansa’s donation programs, how to donate and who you will be helping…

easyJet – “Change for Good” UNICEF

How to help: On board easyJet flights, passengers that wish to donate will be given a special pouch where they can deposit their extra change in any currency.

Who it benefits: The profits are used to fund UNICEF’s life-saving work such as vaccinating children at risk from diseases like measles and polio or providing mosquito nets to prevent malaria. As little as 20 cents in spare change can protect a child.

British Airways – “Flying Start” Comic Relief

How to help: There are three ways to donate: on board British Airways flights, through Travelex at all UK airports, and online.

Who it benefits: Money funds hundreds of projects across the UK and worldwide, to tackle a wide variety of issues faced by poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people.

Lufthansa – HelpAlliance

How to help: There are many ways you can lend a helping hand to the HelpAlliance program: donate your change and foreign currencies on long-haul Lufthansa flights, donate your Lufthansa miles to “Miles to Help”, contribute online, and through January 31 if you check-in online or on your mobile, Lufthansa will donate one sheet of paper for exercise books in HelpAlliance educational projects.

Who it benefits: Donations support nearly 40 projects in 19 countries in the southern hemisphere and Eastern Europe. HelpAlliance projects focus primarily on the areas of nutrition, health and education.
