1. What does the word “travel” mean to you?

Travel is all about learning. With each new destination I visit I learn something new about the world, about cultures, people, food, history and about myself. You can only learn so much through books and TV and experiencing it for yourself is a whole new lesson.

2. Why did you decide to start a travel blog?

I starting blogging in 2009 after working for my local newspaper. I was training to be a journalist but left to travel for a couple of years. The paper asked me to blog about it for their website and I quickly developed a love for blogging. I carried on blogging as a way to build a portfolio of written work for my journalism career. Little did I know that blogging would soon become my career!

I’m a firm believer that everyone who travels should keep some kind of record. Whether it’s Facebook updates, a handwritten journal or a blog. There’s nothing better than looking back on your travels a few years later and reminiscing about all the good times.

3. What is your fondest travel memory?

There are so many! One of my favourite memories is when my boyfriend and I arrived in Hong Kong in 2009. It was the first stop on our two-year trip through Asia and Australia and I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about anything before in my life. We were so fresh and clueless travelling with thick Lonely Planet guides and squeaky-clean backpacks. We got lost instantly, we didn’t know what to do or what to eat but we loved every second of it.

4. If you had to recommend two travel blogs, which would they be?

The first would be Young Adventuress. I love Liz’s style of writing, her photography and all the adventurous things she gets up. She seems like she’d be a lot of fun to travel with!

The second is The Londoner. This is technically a lifestyle blog but Rosie is always travelling to glamorous and luxurious destinations.
