Bangkok is one of the most exciting cities on the planet, and is known for its nightlife and markets. The city is connected to the rest of the world by Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang International Airport. Suvarnabhumi Airport is the largest in Thailand, and has been operational since 2006.

If you have booked a cheap flight to Phnom Penh from Bangkok, you will leave from one of the two airports that serve Bangkok city. Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of the busiest in Asia, and is known for its duty-free shops. Don Mueang International Airport has been operational since 1914 and is one of the oldest airports in the world.

Getting to Bangkok airport

Your Bangkok flight to Phnom Penh may leave from either Suvarnabhumi Airport or Don Mueang International Airport. If you are departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport, take the Airport Link City Line from Phaya Thai station, in the heart of the city. Alternatively, get on BTS bus 54 from Siam. If your flight is leaving from Don Mueang International Airport, you will reach the airport much earlier, as it is only 23 kilometers away. Take BTS bus 29 from Siam to reach this airport in just 30 minutes. It may take an hour too, if there is a lot of traffic.

Getting to Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh is the capital of Cambodia and one of the most charming cities in Asia. Phnom Penh retains a distinct French-colonial atmosphere with its beautiful streets and buildings. It also retains a number of Buddhist monuments and monasteries, which exude a sense of calmn and serenity. Begin your journey at the bustling Central Market, which is filled with food stalls. Visit the Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum, which help you to understand the country's troubled history. By afternoon, head toward Sisowath Quay, known for its boutiques, cafes and restaurants. By evening, head toward one of the many lounges and bars that dot downtown Phnom Penh, and groove to live jazz music.

Arriving to the city centre

Flights to Phnom Penh land at Phnom Penh International Airport, located just ten kilometers from the city center. Taxis are the quickest and easiest way to get to Phnom Penh city center. Taxi rides to Wat Phnom or the Riverside costs around USD $9, whereas other destinations in the city may cost around USD $12. Depending on traffic, you can reach your destination in less than half an hour. If you want to spend less money, you can also take one of the tuk tuks, which are available outside the airport. Take the Line 3 bus to reach places like Chon Chav Roundabout and Night Market.
