Athens is home to more than three million inhabitants. It is also the location of Athens International Airport (AIA), serving domestic and international flights in the country. AIA features two runways and two terminals. Capable of processing 18.1 million passengers per year, it hosts 67 scheduled carriers and 17 low-cost airlines. Athens Airport is also a vital cargo centre with four cargo terminals capable of handling 275,000 tons. At the airport, you will find shops, restaurants and business lounges. There is also a health centre (pharmacy, first aid station and automated external defibrillators) as well as a permanent exhibition of archaeological artifacts at the Main Terminal Building.
The airport is located roughly 17 miles from the centre of Athens. To get there, you can take a taxi or limousine from your accommodation. By Metro, Line 3 will connect you to AIA. Another possibility is to take the train from the Athens Central Railway Station or from the Port of Piraeus to the airport. Bus services (OSY) are offered as well. You can take any of the following buses from different points in the city: X95, X93, X96 and X97. For passengers coming from outside Athens, there are regional buses that go to the airport.

Mykonos Airport is where visitors on flights from Athens to Mykonos will land. It is about 2.5 miles from the airport to town. Some hotels may be able to provide shuttle services from the airport to their locations. If this is not possible, there is a taxi stand in front of the terminal building where taxicabs can take you to your destination. It is always better to pre-book transfers including rental cars especially during the busy high season. Bus services are also available, but their frequency is not guaranteed. They usually go to the southern bus terminal.
