Washington is brimming with iconic monuments, stunning attractions and a pulsating night scene.
Logan International is one of the busiest airports in the US and serves over 35 million passengers annually. It has four terminals known as A, B, C and E, the last of which is the international terminal. All the terminals are linked via shuttle buses. The airport offers state of the art facilities from the restaurants offering a wide variety of food to the duty-free shops and lounges.
Over 50 airline carriers operate from the airport with some offering low cost flights. There are numerous direct flights from Boston to Washington airports in combination with some connecting flights linked via New York City, Albany and Philadelphia.
The ease of getting to Logan International Airport is created by the public transport network system. The Logan Express operates the Silver Line bus service which runs from Framingham, Woburn, Braintree and Peabody. All buses plying these routes stop at the airport terminals facilitating a direct transfer.
If you would like to avoid the road traffic during rush hour, you should consider the Water Shuttle and Water Taxi Services which can be accessed from downtown Boston and other waterfront destinations in the city to the Logan dock. You can also pre-arrange for a shuttle transfer or taxi pick-up from your hotel.
On getting to the city on the Potomac River, apart from discovering the monuments and memorials, there is much to experience in the art, culture and entertainment scenes. Washington DC is home to the Kennedy centre and over 75 museums. Start your exploration at the Phillips Collection in Dupont Circle to view America's first museum of modern art.
You can also participate in important and interesting festivals occurring during the year in the city, such as the Smithsonian Folklife festival in July, the DC Jazz festival in June and the National Cherry Blossom Festival in March/April. With its trending and thriving restaurants and bars, the city holds great promise for a fun-filled nightlife experience.
If your flight arrives at Reagan National Airport in Arlington, you can transfer from the airport using the Metro blue and yellow lines at the concourse level 2 between terminals B and C. Baltimore/Washington Airport is farther from DC but there are easy links to reach the city centre.
Free shuttle buses run from the airport to the train station where you can take the MARC or Amtrak trains to reach the Union Station in the city. From Dulles Airport, the Washington Flyer express bus takes you to West Falls Church Metro Station from which you can connect to the city centre. Taxis are available for direct transfer from the airports.
