To and from the airports

Flights from Barcelona

Barcelona–El Prat Airport is Catalonia's main international airport and it is one of the busiest airports in Spain. The airport has two terminals; Terminal 1 was added in 2009 to cater to the increasing demands of teeming passengers. It was designed by the Catalan architect, Ricardo Bofill, and has over 160 check-in desks and a large shopping area.

The second terminal handles fewer flights and is used mainly by regional carriers. There are few direct flights from Barcelona to Los Angeles. However, major airline carriers operate over ten daily flights connecting via Paris, Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Zurich and New York City.

Getting to Barcelona airport

Barcelona El Prat Airport is situated in the southwest of the city, about 12km from its centre. If you want to use public transport, you can board the train from the city centre at Clot, Passeig de Gràcia or Barcelona Sants. Most hotels offer shuttle transfer services both to and from the airport. Accordingly, you can arrange for a direct transfer to the airport if you are staying at a hotel. There are many taxis in the city operated by different companies, but all are painted yellow and black. You can flag down a taxi to take you to the airport or preferably call for one to pick you up.

Getting to Los Angeles

Los Angeles features a wide range of exciting activities that will keep you occupied. For movie buffs, a visit to the vintage Hollywood sites is a must. You will be thrilled as you explore the TCL Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as the only remaining television and film studio in Hollywood, Paramount Pictures.

Want to see some amazing architecture and discover artifacts in a museum? The Getty centre is the place to go. Only a few blocks from the Santa Monica Pier is the Third Street Promenade housing the open-air shopping mall where you can shop and also enjoy an entertaining time, watching gifted street performers.

Getting to the city centre

There are many ground transportation options to use from Los Angeles International Airport to get to the city centre or to other destinations. The FlyAway Buses operate on a regular schedule every day of the week and are available from the Lower Arrivals level with the destination marked on each bus.

They can take you to Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles where you can transfer to other locations: Hollywood, Van Nuys, Long Beach and Orange Line. If you are travelling in a group, the Shared Ride Vans would be a good option but you should have called the operating companies prior to your arrival. Taxis are also available from the Lower Arrivals level.
