To and from the airports

Flights from Istanbul

Istanbul is one of the oldest cities in the world, and was formerly known as Byzantium and Constantinople. The city is served by two airports, Sabiha Gokcen International Airport and Istanbul Ataturk Airport, which together handle millions of passengers every year. Istanbul Ataturk Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world.

To get from Istanbul to Bodrum, you will have to figure out from which airport your plane is taking off. Sabiha Gokcen Airport functions as a secondary airport and is 35 kilometers from the city center. It is named after Turkey's first female combat pilot. Istanbul Ataturk Airport is only 24 kilometers away and is named after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Getting to Istanbul airport

Your flight may take off from either Sabiha Gokcen International Airport or Istanbul Ataturk Airport. If your flight is taking off from Istanbul Ataturk Airport, all you need to do is hop on Istanbul Metro Line M1A at Yenikapi station. The train takes you directly to Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Another option is to hop on a direct bus from Taksim Square to Ataturk Airport. If your flight is taking off from Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, you can take a coach from Taksim Square in the middle of the city. If you are traveling by car or taxi, you will need to take the E80 route.

Getting to Bodrum

Bodrum is a beach resort with history dating back to the Ancient Greeks. Today, it is a bustling port and tourist destination with a number of activities to enjoy and things to see. Begin your day at the Castle of St. Peter, which is an imposing structure; it also has a museum to boot. Head towards port Bodrum Yalikavak, where you can take a stroll by the harbor and watch ships that sail across the horizon. Spend an afternoon at the Bitez Beach, which remains crowded even during the afternoon and is a great place to people-watch. Finally, end your trip at the beautiful Palmarina, a beautiful promenade that overlooks the sea.

Arriving to the city centre

Istanbul to Bodrum flights land at Milas-Bodrum Airport, which is 36 kilometers from the city center. The best way to get to Bodrum city center is by hopping on one of the Havas Airport Buses. These buses take 60 minutes to make the trip and each ticket costs only ten Turkish Lira. Muttas offers a shuttle service that is similar to the one offered by Havas Airport Buses. Another option is to hail an airport taxi and ask the driver to drop you off at Bodrum city center. There are private transfers available too, but these tend to be quite expensive.
