Flights from Athens

Athens is a city blessed with a rich history and civilization. It is also the site of Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos), the main gateway to the city and Greece. It features two runways and two terminals to serve flights from Athens to Barcelona. AIA is capable of processing 18.1 million passengers in a year. The 84 scheduled and budget carriers operate flights to 118 destinations within and outside of Europe. Athens Airport is equipped with modern facilities including up to 1,360 parking spaces. To contribute to a greener environment, there is a charging station at the short-term parking for electric or hybrid vehicles.

Getting to Athens airport

The airport is easily reached from the city centre with taxis being the most convenient way. An alternative is to use the Metro Line 3 (Aghia Marina – Athens International Airport). When using trains, go to the Athens Central Railway Station for connections to the airport. By bus, there are four lines that go to the airport from the city – X97 (Elliniko), X93 (Kifisou Avenue), X96 (Piraeus) and X95 (Syntagma). Regional buses (KTEL Express Service) serve the airport as well from neighboring towns. For those who need to return hired vehicles at the airport, you can drive on the A6/E94.

Getting to Barcelona

Barcelona is Catalonia's capital, a city known for its impressive architecture and art. Everywhere you go, traces of the outstanding works of the city's best known figure, Gaudi can be admired. Getting to the city centre

Taxis, found at the arrival area, are some of the best options to get to the city from Barcelona-El Prat Airport. Passengers on flights from Athens to Barcelona without luggage can easily take the Metro L9 which links the airport to the Zona Universitaria and the centre. There are also Metropolitan buses that go to central Barcelona and other towns. Intercity buses serve several places in the Catalonia region. The R2 North Line of the train service will take you to Barcelona Sants, the central railway station in the city. Several reputable car rental agencies operate at Terminal T1 – Terminal T2B if you have booked a car hire for your stay in the city.
