Barcelona is the second largest city of Spain, and one of the global centers of fashion, art and culture. It is served by Barcelona El-Prat Airport, which is one of the busiest airports in the world. This airport is 12 kilometers away from the center of Barcelona.

To get from Barcelona to Tenerife, you will have to arrive at Barcelona-El Prat Airport in good time. This is one of the oldest airports in Europe having begun its operations in 1918. The first commercial flight from Barcelona-El Prat Airport took off to Madrid in 1927. With two terminals and a really large building, this airport serves millions of passengers.

Getting to Barcelona airport

Flights from Barcelona to Tenerife take off from Barcelona-El Prat Airport. The airport is not very far away from the city center and is easy to reach. All you need to do is reach the Passeig de Garcia station in central Barcelona and hop on a Rodalies commuter train. This train will take you to the Terminal 2 station. L9 Sud (orange line) is another option, if you prefer traveling by metro. If you wish to take a bus, you can reach Placa Catalunya and take Aerobus' direct transfer to the airport. There are also taxis and rented cars available from different neighborhoods of the city to the airport.

Getting to Tenerife

Tenerife is the most populated island of the Canary Islands, and is frequented by millions of tourists from across the world. It is known for its warm climate, beautiful beaches and pristine valleys and mountains. Begin your day at El Medano, which has a beautiful beach that is frequented by both locals and tourists. Take some time to explore the valleys and ravines of the island, especially Valle de Guimar. Puerto de la Cruz is more touristy, and is known for its charming harbor and the various resorts and cafes that dot the township. Playa de las Americas is a popular resort in Tenerife, and is a great place to end your journey.

Arriving to the city centre

Tenerife flights may land at either Tenerife North Airport or Tenerife South Airport. Tenerife North Airport is located near Santa Cruz and is also called as Los Rodeos Airport. If you land here, getting to Santa Cruz de Tenerife is easy. IT is only 13 kilometers away and a taxi will bring you to the city center in 15 minutes. Alternatively, hop on bus 102 at the airport to reach Santa Cruz. If your flight lands at Tenerife South Airport, take public bus 111 to reach Santa Cruz easily. Alternatively, just take a taxi, which can be found outside the airport.
