About Air Baltic

The Latvian airline, airBaltic (BT), was founded in 1995 after the signing of a joint venture between the Latvian Government and SAS (Scandinavian Airlines). The airline's headquarters and hub are at Riga Airport where it offers over 60 direct flights throughout Europe and Southwest Asia with a fleet of 30 aircraft. Though a relatively young airline, Air Baltic has already received several awards including 2009/10 Airline of the Year (award from the European Regions Airline Association, ERA), 2010 Phoenix Award for successful restructuring (awarded by Air Transport World), and in 2012, Europe's most punctual airline at the regional level (Flightsstats).

Online check-in

There are different ways to check-in for your Air Baltic flight:

  • online check-in (only on applicable flights);
  • airport check-in (€10 fee); self-service check-in kiosk at the airport; mobile check-in.
  • Online check-in is available from 12:00pm the day before up to 90 minutes before scheduled flight departure.

The airport check-in deadline depends on the departure airport and also the class of travel. Check-in deadlines range from 30 minutes to 150 minutes before scheduled flight departure.

Hand baggage allowance

All hand luggage must be within the maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20cm and cannot exceed a maximum weight of 8kg. The amount of hand baggage that each passenger may bring on-board depends on the class of travel:

  • Economy Service Class: 1 piece
  • Business Service Class: 2 pieces

Checked baggage allowance

The amount of free checked luggage depends on the passenger's class of travel and ticket fare:

Economy Service Class:

  • Basic Class ticket: No free checked baggage allowance
  • Economy Class & Economy Flex Class tickets: 1 piece of free checked baggage with maximum weight 20kg

Business Service Class:

  • Business Flex Class & Business Class tickets: maximum 3 pieces of free checked baggage with a total weight of up to 30kg

The flight was ok and landings were not bad. Got a mail that the airbus was so much more comfortable in every aspects. Yes it was more comfortable.yet there was a big issue. The plane from Tel Aviv to Riga was almost full.( Not sure how many people were on economy class. And there was only 1 toilet for all us travellers. (On busines class there were room for 5 people as some seats were closed and they had a toilet.) Kids were unhappy so many woman complained.me 2.Never flew with only one toilet for economy class.always min. 2 but mostly 3 toilets . Thanks rinahartvig@gmail.com
