Munich sights and attractions

Grandiose palaces, parks, museums and galleries and plenty of oompah-pah bands are some of the characteristics that define Munich, Bavaria's exuberant main city. In this city with a cosmopolitan heart, visitors can effortlessly glide between historical and cultural sights, while the city's retail and culinary offerings are considered some of the best in Germany. Take a stroll through Marienplatz and gawk at the Glockenspiel, see an opera at the Nationaltheater Opera House, or jostle with crowds in a raucous beer hall and then retire to one of the city's many wide green parks. Venture just beyond the city and you will encounter Bavaria's spectacular natural landscapes, where Alpine peaks, bucolic valleys and crystal clear rivers await discovery.
