For the most of us, summer is synonymous with sunbathing, sipping a refreshing drink on a cool terrace, and relaxing in the sea breeze. And holidays. Even if it’s a long weekend. Even if you’re dead busy and can’t afford it. These things are details when it comes to taking some days off to go to the seaside.

And if it’s the seaside, and if it’s the Mediterranean Coast, you have to give the fish and seafood a try. Here are 7 fish and seafood dishes that you must not miss. Or else 🙂

Psst: We also added recipes for each of these, just in case 😉

Grilled Shrimp with Lemongrass

Mix some garlic, soy sauce, chilli, salt, lemongrass and oil, then add the shrimp and marinate for a few minutes. Cook for only 2 or 3 minutes on a heated grill.

Grilled Mediterranean Seabass

This fish is very popular on the Mediterranean coast and you will find it on the menus in Spanish restaurants as “Lubina” and “Spigola” in Italy. The meat of this fish is so tasty you don’t have to do much. Just massage it with some oil, pepper and salt before putting it on the grill. When done sprinkle some lemon juice over it.

Tip: If you buy this from the market try to find a bigger one,  as those over 2 kilos tend to be tastier.

Grilled Sea Scallops

Scallops are a popular type of shellfish and from the same family as oysters. To cook them on the grill you’ll have to keep them on a medium flame for 3-4 minutes. Before putting them on the grill, bathe them in a sauce of lime juice and butter.

Fish Kebab

Cut the washed and dried fish into cubes and marinate them in a mix of lemon juice, ginger, garlic, coriander, chili, salt, yogurt and oil for two hours. Then push them onto kebab sticks and grill on each side for about 4 minutes.

Anchovy Flavoured Olives

You could try to make these, but it involves marinating them in salt and water for one year, then another half a year in a broth of anchovies, but it might just be easier to look for them in the supermarket. They’re medium sized, meaty and have a slight anchovy taste. Give it a try.
