Phase 1: Foundations & The Digital Revolution (1999 – 2010)

1999

Javier Perez-Tenessa, James Hare, and Mauricio Prieto founded eDreams in Silicon Valley.

2000

Launch of the first eDreams website Travelers can start comparing flights and hotels from the comfort of their own homes.

2006/10

Successive partnerships and investments from global firms TA Associates (2006) and Permira (2010). These "LBOs" (Leveraged Buyouts) are votes of confidence providing financial backing to the brand.

Phase 2: Becoming a European leader & a subscription company (2011 – 2021)

2011

After the acquisition of Travellink in 2005, the group continued to grow by integrating Opodo and GO Voyages. The group established itself as one of the largest European online travel companies.

2012

Launch of the first native mobile app, moving the booking experience from the desktop to the palm of the hand, allowing travelers to book on the go.

2013

Acquisition of travel metasearch engine Liligo, significantly bolstering the Group’s price comparison capabilities.

2014

The group celebrates its IPO (Initial Public Offering)

2016

25% of eDO’s customers are now booking via mobile—outperforming the industry average.

2017

Launch in France of the world’s first travel subscription, Prime, a move that would redefine the company's business model from transactional to subscription.

2018

Launch of eDreams ODIGEO Media Services, the Group’s advertising platform.

2020

Launch of the tech hub projects in Porto and Milan to expand development capabilities across Europe.

eDreams ODIGEO expands Prime subscription programme to include hotels and further flexibility for travellers.

2021

Prime hits 1 million members & eDreams ODIGEO expands its tech force with 100+ new hires.

Phase 3: AI Era (2022 – 2026)

Prime hits 3 million members & eDreams ODIGEO delivers greater personalisation for travellers with new AI-powered technology.

eDreams ODIGEO excels as a tech employer of choice as it is named for the first time ‘Best Company to Work For’ by Forbes.

2023

eDreams ODIGEO expands its network of European innovation centers with the launch of a new tech lab in Milan. The move follows the recent opening of development labs in Porto, Palma de Mallorca and Alicante.

Prime surpasses 5 million members and reigns as the world's fastest-growing subscription platform.

2024

The Group announces early completion of its largest-ever recruitment drive. In just over 2 years, the Company has added 635 new team members to accelerate subscription business expansion that has topped 6.5 million members.

2025

eDreams ODIGEO becomes first major European travel tech company to earn BBB Accreditation in the USA.

Achievement of the ambitious long-term target of 7.25 million members by March 2025. This demonstrates the compelling value and inherent strength of eDO’s innovative subscription model.

eDreams ODIGEO named #1 on LinkedIn’s 2025 ‘Top Companies’ to work for in Spain and a ‘Best Company to Work For’ by Forbes for the fourth consecutive year.

eDreams ODIGEO sets new accelerated growth target to reach over 13 million Prime members by 2030.

eDreams ODIGEO expands Prime towards all-travel subscription, integrating rail options alongside the existing flight, hotel, holiday package and car rental offering.
